COMPLAINTS AND GRIEVANCES
Students of Career Options, Inc. in Park Ridge, Illinois, have the right to appeal disciplinary actions and submit formal complaints if they believe a school policy or standard has been violated. A written complaint must be submitted within thirty (30) days of the alleged incident. The following process is used to review and address student grievances:
- Submit a written grievance to the Chief Managing Employee.
- The Chief Managing Employee will provide written acknowledgement of the complaint within 10 working days after receiving it.
- A written copy of the grievance will be forwarded to the governing body and the appropriate instructor or staff member involved.
- The Chief Managing Employee will issue a written determination indicating whether the matter requires a formal grievance process or if the concern has been resolved.
- If necessary, a meeting will be scheduled with the student (grievant) and the Chief Managing Employee.
- Faculty members or other relevant administrative personnel may participate in the meeting or hearing.
- The outcome of the meeting or hearing will be provided to the student in writing within 10 working days.
- Any required corrective or resolution actions will then be implemented.
- Career Options, Inc. will maintain a written record of all student complaints and the resolutions provided.
Students who have been notified of separation from the school also have the right to submit an appeal regarding that decision.
Complaints concerning the school may also be submitted to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, which oversees postsecondary institutions in the state of Illinois.
